International City is a mixed use commercial, residential, retail and tourism development in the Al Warsan region of Dubai. It is situated between interchanges 5 and 6 of Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) opposite to the Dubai Central Fruit and Vegetable Market.
The district is laid out in repeating patterns of so-called clusters, each of which is named after a different country and is designed using architectural styles from that country: England, Emirates, Russia, Italy, Spain, France, Persia, Greece, Morocco and China. These clusters surround The Central Business District and a site destined to become a ‘replica’ of Beijing’s Forbidden City.
There are 485 apartment buildings in the nine residential districts and Central Business District. Rents here are relatively low for Dubai as the apartments are aimed at low to middle incomes.
Like many new developments in Dubai the access roads cannot cope with the number of vehicles trying to enter and exit the place at peak times, so expect delays.
From Dubai International City it takes roughly 21 minutes to drive to Dubai Mall, 33 minutes to Palm Jumeirah, 32 minutes to Burj Al Arab and 37 minutes to The Walk JBR.
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is roughly 29 minutes’ drive and the new Al Maktoum International Airport is roughly 44 minutes’ drive. All durations are calculated by Google Maps and assume the fastest route in typical traffic conditions.
