By Q2 2024, The Dh2b, 365-Meter-Tall Ciel Dubai Marina Will Welcome Its First Visitors.
The 82-storey Ciel Dubai Marina, which will be the world’s tallest standalone hotel tower, is expected to have its operator identified by this summer. As there is reportedly heavy competition among the contenders. The development costs around Dh2 billion, and it will be completed in the first quarter of 2024. With the first guests expected to arrive in the second quarter.
The project is already over 70 percent complete and is ahead of schedule, according to CEO Rob Burns of The First Group, the developer behind the project. Upon completion, Ciel Dubai Marina will add more than 1,000 hotel rooms to Dubai’s hospitality pipeline. The First Group will also add four more hotels in Dubai in the next 18 months.
Dubai Dominates the List of the World’s Tallest Hotels
Dubai holds the top three spots for the world’s tallest hotels. With the Gevora on Sheikh Zayed Road at 356.3 meters, followed by the JW Marquis at 355 meters. In addition, the Rose Rayhaan by Rotana at 333 meters. Notably, the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper, has a hotel component that stands at 321 meters.
Ciel Dubai Marina: A Pure-Play Hotel
The Ciel Dubai Marina project, which began in 2018, is progressing ahead of schedule despite the Covid disruptions. Initially, the developer considered having serviced apartments, but ultimately decided to focus on hotel rooms and suites. Upon completion in first quarter of 2024, the 82-storey skyscraper will add over 1,000 hotel rooms to Dubai’s hospitality pipeline. “We operate 7,838 hotel rooms in Dubai with 11 out-and-out hotel projects to date,” stated The First Group CEO. “After finalizing the designs for Ciel Dubai Marina, we decided to opt for a pure-play hotel concept and solely offer hotel rooms.”
Upcoming Super-Towers in Dubai
Dubai is set to welcome a new wave of super-tall structures. Including the Uptown Tower by DMCC, the One Za’abeel from Ithra Dubai located near DWTC roundabout. Moreover, the recently announced ‘world’s tallest residential-only tower’ from Binghatti Group. The Ciel Dubai Marina will also be joining this list and is expected to begin its promotional and brand-building activities in the summer of ’23, leading up to its full opening. Milestones of the Ciel Dubai Marina Project:
- The 82-storey superstructure, which was launched in 2018, is now 99% complete
- The mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) first and second fix work is 80% complete in the basement, podium floors, and storey levels of the building
- Building facade brackets have been fully installed up to the 72nd floor, and the installation of the curtain wall is currently ongoing, having reached the 70th floor
